Upward Bound provides fundamental support to local low-income, first-generation college and high school students. The program provides opportunities for participants to succeed in their precollege performance and ultimately in their higher education pursuits.
The goal of Upward Bound is to increase the rate at which participants complete secondary education and enroll in and graduate from institutions of postsecondary education. Services that we provide include a 6 week residential summer school session at Cal Poly, tutoring, career advisement, supplemental instruction, and cultural and recreational activities.
Cal Poly Upward Bound participating schools include:
High Schools
Feeder Jr. High Schools
How can I get Involved?
A number of paid and non-paid job opportunities are available for currently enrolled Cal Poly students. Positions available with Upward Bound include: Tutors, Summer Resident Advisors and Teaching Assistants
